Its power came from the not-quite-right-ness of the otherwise ordinary settings. The first game had a dark Studio Ghibli feel, using mundane settings like kitchens and storerooms, full of Burtonesque inhabitants, to create something that could best be described as twisted but twee. However, it’s definitely a move in the right direction after the earlier forest level I played left me unsure about what felt like a half-hearted swerve into more traditional, obvious horror. I mean I hated it: the way they move, all broken and spasmy the hodgepodge of mismatched old fashioned prosthetic limbs and partially formed faces made from all the wrong bits jammed into whatever socket was available - it’s proper nightmare fuel. I checked 5 different playthroughs so far and only one used keyboard/mouse.And I’ve got to be honest, I liked it. I'm gonna assume those playthroughs are of people who never played the game, making them all noobs. Even the most noob one managed to figure out pretty easily. I even watch several playthroughs from different players and none of them had any serious problems. But that "majority" is not that significant as far as I can see. Majority of the players having trouble? Where? There are some threads about this here and there. Thats why I said its a player thing, rather than a device. Some say its very easy with it, others still die there 50+ times. I had no problems with the flashlight with k+m combo, some others do. So you cannot simply say that its a keyboard thing. No, I'm saying that I see players with both keyboard or controllers having trouble. Even the most noob one managed to figure out pretty easily after 5-6 tries.Īm I to assume based on all your non-existing evidence that using a controller (which the game itself recommends) is not easier than mouse/keyboard? I even watched several playthroughs from different players and none of them had any serious problems. There are some threads about this here and there(usually with the same people.).īut that "majority" is not that significant as far as I can see. Majority of the players having trouble? Where? If the majority of players are having trouble due to the controls, does it really depend on the player or are you just saying that because your experience was better? I can adknowledge that the melee combat is difficult despite never having issues with it, because people take in or understand information differently.ĭid you watch videos of the game before you played it yourself? Am I to assume based on all your non-existing evidence that using a controller (which the game itself recommends) is not easier than mouse/keyboard? I don't know what the game is like to play with controller, however, in every single video I have seen they were using controller and the flashlight movement seemed smooth and easy to control. You basically have to figure out on your own. I mean, the game doesn't give you any hints or tutorial. So like I said, it depends on the player.Īnd it's also possible that you're doing something wrong. There are threads here where the player is using controller and still not able to do it. But even in the worst case, i died only 3-4 times.Īlso, saying that with controller is much better, easier, is also not true. There were sections that I even managed to do on my first try.
